Teams can begin negotiating with pending free agents on March 9th, and the Tennessee Titans are gonna have their fair share of work to do when the time comes.

The position that the Titans need to focus on the most is wide receiver. Cam Ward is going to be entering his sophomore year and could use the best group around him to aid in his development.

The team has over $90 million to spend this year, so we can expect them to potentially make a splash move for a good receiver. Let’s look into some of the top wide receivers who are pending free agents.

Alec Pierce

Alec Pierce is almost inarguably the top wide receiver with an expiring contract, so that makes him an obviously great choice for the Titans.

Pierce has explosive 4.41 speed and deep routes that can leave great cornerbacks in the dust for big gains. He has a 6”3 frame that can allow him to make contested catches and fend off tackles for extra yards.

He is evolving from the one-dimensional threat he once was and has been able to make plays all over the field through short routes, run-after-catch, and even run-blocking.

Pierce is coming off a 1,000-yard season where he averaged over 11 yards per reception, establishing himself as a high-level wide receiver in the league. In a crowded receiving room that included Michael Pittman Jr and Alex Warren, he was able to shine.

The main issue with the Titans acquiring Pierce is that they won’t be the only ones; Every team wants their slice of the Alec Pierce experiment, so the Titans will have to give up a lot of money and fight over some top teams.

The Colts also don’t seem to want Pierce to leave, and will do whatever they can to get an extension going with him, though the franchise tag is now off the board with the team placing the transition tag on quarterback Daniel Jones.

Wan’Dale Robinson

New York Giants wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson is not only one of the top receivers in this cycle but also one who may have a little more in common with the Titans than some of these other names, as Titans offensive coordinator Brian Daboll was Robinson’s head coach in New York.

Robinson is a receiver coming off a 1000-yard season and is one of the most highly regarded slot receivers in the game. He is versatile enough to play on the outside, too, though, and split his yards about 600 in the slot and 400 outside of it.

He is a 5’8 former second-round pick who runs a speedy 4.44 40-yard dash time with fluid, technically sound routes. He is also good for a heavy amount of balls, as he has consecutive seasons with 80+ catches.

He is also physical for his smaller stature, being able to make contested and tough catches and rarely fumbling. He is the whole package as a receiver with incredible flexibility and reliability, and would make a great weapon for Cam Ward.

Jauan Jennings

Another highly respected wide receiver that is set to be a free agent is San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings. Jennings has a connection with head coach Robert Saleh, so they could potentially have mutual interest in each other.

Jennings has over 2500 receiving yards in his career and 22 touchdowns, and has seemingly improved every year since he entered the league in 2020.

He has earned himself the nickname of “Third and Jauan” due to his ability to make critical third-down conversions. He is a big physical wide receiver who wins contested catches and makes plays over the middle and in the red zone. He is also one of the better run-blocking wide receivers in the NFL, which is a quiet but extremely useful feature.

He can play both the slot and the outside, making him a versatile receiver, and he even threw a touchdown in the Super Bowl. He has everything a young quarterback needs to aid his development.

There are injury concerns, though, as he has missed multiple games in each of the last three seasons and missed his entire rookie year due to an injury. We have already seen Saleh bring in former players of his, as he just traded for Jermaine Johnson, but it will be curious to see if he has these same connections with the offensive side of the ball.

Rashid Shaheed

Super Bowl champion Rashid Shaheed is set to be a free agent, too, but I expect a deal to be made with him and the Seahawks. They invested in him at the trade deadline, and it worked out great, so they are likely doing what they can to agree on an extension.

If he does not get extended, Shaheed will be an interesting player for the Titans to look at. He is extremely versatile and a great deep-threat wide receiver capable of making big plays downfield. He is also one of, if not the best, returners in the NFL.

The problem with this comes to his fit. He is essentially just a better Chimere Dike. Adding him to the room would cause controversy in the punt and kick return, as well as some crowded issues in the slot if the Titans decide to put him there.

Shaheed is extremely talented and can pick apart defenses, but signing him does not make too much sense. He would be a great and versatile deep threat with his incredible speed, but bringing him in would just put Chimere Dike on the back burner, when he showed a lot of promise in his rookie season.

Romeo Doubs

The final young wide receiver that the Titans may look to invest in is Green Bay Packers’ Romeo Doubs.

Coming off a career-high 724 yards in 2025, Doubs has had some standout performances. His 6’2 has allowed him to become one of the best in the NFL at making contested catches, ranking in the 87th percentile since 2023.

He is a consistent X receiver who is a real threat in the red zone and is reliable all over the field, especially when needing a crucial first down. This is what the Titans should be looking for to help aid their young quarterback.

Doubs may be the cheapest of these receivers and shows just as much upside as some of the others at a position the Titans really need. He has the physical attributes the team could use and could make a reliable #2 receiver.
