Projecting Jeffery Simmons Contract Extension with Titans!

Donald Page/Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans have had a rough 2025 season, as the team is 3-12 with two games to go and will end up with a top-ten pick for the third straight year.

Though the Titans suck this year, defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons is having the best year of his career. Simmons has already posted a career-high in sacks (9) and is also at 58 quarterback pressures, which is just eight shy of his career best of 66 set in 2021.

Simmons is also having a dominant season in run defense, tallying 16 tackles for loss (also a career high) and 35 defensive stops. The now four-time Pro Bowler is truly having an awesome season in 2025, which once again puts his contract situation in the spotlight.

What will Big Jeff’s next deal look like?

Simmons is in the second year of the four-year, $94 million extension he signed with the Titans in April 2023. That means Simmons will have two years remaining on his new deal after the 2025 season.

Based on his performance this year, Simmons is underpaid. The 28-year-old is tied for the seventh-highest-paid defensive tackle in football with an average annual value of $23.5 million. As a result, Simmons could ask Tennessee for an extension this offseason or simply ask for a raise, especially with him having no guaranteed money on his current deal in 2027.

It’s safe to assume that Simmons will receive over $30 million annually in his next contract, especially if he earns first-team All-Pro honors this season. The highest-paid defensive tackle currently is the Kansas City Chiefs’ Chris Jones, who is on a contract worth $31.750 million per year.

Tennessee could wait until the 2027 offseason to extend Simmons, but with the market always increasing and Simmons having an All-Pro level season, the Titans should take care of their franchise cornerstone this offseason and sign him to an extension that will keep him in Nashville for the long-term.
